A message to my younger self

Close your eyes and count to ten,
Remember the times you did this, even then,
When you were little ,you got scared,
As you heard a weird sound or something that made you unprepared,

Your heart felt weak your stomach fluttered,
you couldn’t speak , not even a mutter,
But you stood tall and counted to ten,
I Remembersd the instant gratification ,
even then,

It made my mind rest and my heart ease,
When I took my breath I was pleased ,
To know deep down I was brave,
And my inner child was saved,

Even now I count to ten,
Same thing I did even then,
I can remember how it made me feel,
When I believe the monsters were real,

I opened my eyes in relief,
That I wasn’t scared and  I was not in grief,
I was brave and strong and true,
Knowing I was strong and you can be strong too.
