Son and father

A Veterans Day poem.

Son and father

Every year I take my son ,
Down to your grave and tell him what you’ve done,
Not just you but what they did for our country,
And that he was a hero And how much he loves thee,

Our son never met you but the world did,
And we are safe cause of him heaven forbid,
I sit down next to you and we remember your dad,
And I know he would be glad,

To see you here,
Knowing the closeness is real,
And every year I take you down to see,
The hero that sacrificed his love for you and me.
