guide

we all rely on our parents to lead the way,
but someday we will grow up and move away,
you will take the lessons you learn with you,
and all their knowledge you will pursue,

you will always have them by your side,
but you wont have them to hide,
take their spirt and create a new,
life where your leading you,

they always are in our hearts,
no matter what we wont part,
but there are times we have to go,
learning and taking what we know,

and i sit here today,
writing this poem to say,
ive taken all ive learned from you,
and made my life happy as i start a new,

life for myself on my own,
i remember your always there, im not alone,
you will always be my guide,
but now im riding my own ride.
